Living in a listed building
Some of our properties are listed buildings and this affects the repairs that we are able to carry out. The Government lists buildings which are of special architectural or historic interest to protect them as part of the nation’s heritage. The buildings and structures are chosen because they are survivors of past architectural styles and types of building construction.
We have to apply for permission from the local authority to carry out repairs to listed buildings, and this often affects the repair completion time. We will let you know about this when you report the repair. Living in a listed building may also restrict the type of improvements and alterations that you are allowed to carry out, and you may need to apply to the local council for permission.
